System Optimization

We help our clients to ensure that their systems are implemented as designed, provide useful information, and support key processes.

We begin by evaluating our clients' existing systems and their uses. From there, we prepare recommendations for improving system configuration, business processes, technology, and tools. Our customized technical assistance usually includes one or more of the following:

  • Identifying business changes that have occurred since system implementation to determine whether there have been appropriate modifications and updates to support the changes

  • Establishing new procedures and workgroups to improve communication between operations and information technology staff

  • Working with system vendors to determine whether new upgrades or capabilities are available to meet both old and new operational challenges

  • Developing training programs, policies, and procedures to ensure staff has adequate training

  • Optimizing system configuration to streamline operations and reduce manual process and other workarounds

  • Comparing system configuration and use with similar organizations to identify and establish best practices

  • Assessing the viability of third-party products and tools to augment system functionality and performance

When healthcare organizations make significant investments in their information systems, their intent is usually to achieve a goal such as improving operational accuracy, achieving meaningful use, improving quality, or boosting financial performance. If the goal is not met, the first inclination can be to blame the system rather than to see if the problem lies elsewhere. This is where we can help.
